We've got one chance to save Clair Hall - we need your help

We are fighting the Tory Cabinet's irrational decision to close Clair Hall - but to save it we're going to need a little help from you.

As a result of our formal challenge, a special meeting of the Mid Sussex District Council Scrutiny Committee has been set for 13^th October. At that meeting Liberal Democrats will challenge the decision on the grounds that there was:

• No public consultation
• No scrutiny of the decision by councillors
• No serious consideration given to the alternatives to permanent closure
• Missing background papers that were material to the recommendation to close Clair Hall.

If we win, the Cabinet must reconsider its closure. If we lose, the Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill area loses its last and only community theatre.

Even though we believe our case is strong, the outcome of the Scrutiny Committee hangs in the balance.

This is where you can help. We need you to:

• Let members of the Scrutiny Committee know your feelings about Clair Hall before the meeting on 13^th You can click on a name below to get to that councillor's contact details. Let as many know your feelings as possible.

• Help us to deliver leaflets across the town and villages urging residents to take the same action. If you can spare an hour or so to help please email haywardsheath@midsussexlibdems.org.uk

• Add your views to the opinion poll which will register the community's reaction to the closure. The poll is here.

• 'Turn up' to the meeting. The more of us who watch on the MSDC YouTube channel, the less doubt there will be that we don't want our main community venue closed. You can tune in here at 4pm on 13 October.

We've only got a few days left to save Clair Hall. So act now and ensure our council faces up to its responsibility to listen to its residents. Let's save the hall together.
