Supporting #WeMakeEvents

COVID is catastrophic for the events industry and venues here

The pandemic must not be allowed to destroy the events industry and threaten events spaces in Mid Sussex.

The events industry was the first to close and will be the last to reopen. The Government has not provided specific support for a sector that employs 600,000 people nationally. Alison met Hurst residents whose livelihoods and businesses are under threat as part of #LightItInRed in Sept.

After the pandemic we will still want venues to use. That is why the Lib Dems have been fighting the Conservatives' decision to permanently close Clair Hall in Haywards Heath. Clair Hall is the largest multi purpose venue in the south of the District. The proposed closure was taken without public consultation and has provoked wide spread uproar. The Lib Dems triggered the first 'call-in' of a decision in ten years over Clair Hall resullting in, among other things, this excellent video highlighting a Conservative Councillor's questionable chairing being produced by the Save Clair Hall group on Facebook.

This was only possible because YOU elected opposition councillors last year.
