Strong gains for the Lib Dems in Franklands By-election

A very big thank you to everyone who supported Nick Chapman and the Liberal Democrats in the Franklands By-election. The result was as follows, with changes in vote shares from May this year:
Conservatives 458 48% change -4%
Nick Chapman:
Liberal Democrats 359 37% change +11%
Greens 82 9% change -6%
Labour 50 6% change -1%
Turnout 23.2%
Although Nick Chapman didn't win, missing by just 99 votes, this was a really strong Lib Dem result in a ward that was the Conservative's safest ward in Haywards Heath in the local elections in May this year. This points to a close contest between the Lib Dems and Conservatives at the forthcoming general election in Mid Sussex.
