Lib Dems Urge Town Council to become a Quality Council

14 Jun 2007

Ashenground Councillors Richard Bates and Christine McLean will propose on Monday 18th June at a Haywards Heath Town Council Meeting that the Council takes immediate action to become accredited as a Quality Council.

Christine commented

"I am disappointed that, despite past moves by Liberal Democrat Councillors, Haywards Heath has not embarked on the process of becoming a Quality Council. Quality status not only brings kudos to the Council and the residents of Haywards Heath, it enables the Council to take more responsibility for delivering and improving local services in the Town. Haywards Heath is also missing out on the financial gains and grants available to Quality Councils."

Richard added

"It seems wrong that Haywards Heath has not become a Quality Council. Burgess Hill, East Grinstead and Cuckfield are just three of many Councils in Mid Sussex to be accredited as Quality Councils. The Town Council will have to work to attain Quality status and Christine and I are eager to get on with the job. Part of the process is for the Council to analyse what it does and how it does it and to improve communications. Surely Haywards Heath residents deserve a Town Council that has proved and is recognised for the quality of its service."
