Lib Dems to oppose 500 houses at public hearing

9 Jan 2018

We will be voicing our opposition to plans for 500 houses north of Clayton Mills in Hassocks at a Public Hearing on 5th February. The special hearing has been called by the Planning Inspector after more than 1,000 local residents registered their opposition to the proposals in the Mid Sussex District Plan.

Liberal Democrat Councillor Sue Hatton was the only District Councillor in Mid Sussex to vote against the plans, and we will continue to fight this proposed development at the Public Hearing. We believe these proposals would put further pressure on the village's overstretched services and infrastructure, and would reduce the gap between Hassocks and Burgess Hill, irreparably damaging the village's separate identity.

The hearing, which will be open for public observation, will be held on Monday 5 February 2018, starting at 2.00pm, at Clair Hall, Perrymount Road, Haywards Heath, RH16 3DN. For further details see Mid Sussex District Council's website.
