Lib Dems increase votes and MEP's in elections

18 Jun 2004

Within the Mid Sussex District area the Lib Dem share of the vote, as elsewhere, increased since the 1999 Euro election. Both sitting MEP's, Chris Huhne and Emma Nicholson were comfortably re-elected.

The Liberal Democrats were the only major party to increase their share of the vote across the country and in England now have at least one MEP in every region of the country - unlike UKIP.

Overall we gained two extra MEP's and now have 12 MEP's to the Tories 27, Labour 19, UKIP 12 and 2 Greens.
