Investing in our NHS

30 Nov 2019

Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead is a vital asset to the local community, and the dedicated staff provide the best possible care they can, with the resources they have. The service is one that the Liberal Democrats treasure and are dedicated to protecting and pledge to provide more funding to our NHS.

The Conservatives have failed in the management of the NHS. Resources have been stretched to their limits, waiting times have skyrocketed, the service is chronically understaffed, and morale is at an all-time low. Only 87.6 per cent of patients arriving at A&E in Sussex and East Surrey Health & Care Partnership were treated or admitted within four hours in October 2019, this is well below the government's own target of 95 per cent.

The Liberal Democrats would put a penny-in-the-pound rise on all income tax bands to meet the immediate priorities in the health service. The party will invest more in social care and mental health services.
