Environmental Forum for Haywards Heath

30 Jul 2007

Cllrs. Charlotte Jones and Trevor Fisher are proposing that Haywards Heath Town Council takes action to set up an Environmental Forum in the Town. Charlotte said

"The idea is that local groups interested in any aspect of the environment would form a partnership with Councillors to meet and discuss environmental issues. The Forum would decide its own agenda and initiatives. It could for example consider promoting a Linear Walk or a Green Crescent for Haywards Heath and an environmental audit of the Council's operations. Where other towns have set up an Environmental Forum, it has been very successful. Local people have been actively involved with environmental initiatives and issues affecting their communities."

Trevor added

"We feel that to set up an Environmental Forum in Haywards Heath would be an important step forward in improving environmental awareness and working together as a community to protect our open spaces and improve the Town in which we all live. I hope that the Town Council will agree with our proposal and act as a facilitator for the Forum"
