Cleaner, clearer roads

30 Nov 2019

Robert Eggleston, pledges more money for public transport in an effort to reduce congestion and improve air quality.

East Grinstead's roads are notoriously ill-equipped for the level of traffic with routes to Crawley and the M25 regularly at a standstill, resulting in the highest nitrogen dioxide concentration values across the Mid Sussex District.

The Liberal Democrats will invest in public transport, improving its reliability and affordability, reform the planning systems to reduce the need to travel and promote cycling and walking. This means that we will invest in more frequent, greener bus services and increase the number of cycle lanes to alleviate congestion in East Grinstead.

With our roads stretched to their limits, the Liberal Democrats will also ensure that any future housing and business developments will only go ahead if the infrastructure to support them is in place first.

Robert Eggleston, Mid Sussex PPC
