Alison Bennett's Monday Mail - Esther, Rubbish and Wine
Welcome to my Monday Mail for 5 February 2024. As Mid Sussex’s Lib Dem general election candidate, every Monday, I send a short email sharing a few of the things that I have been doing and thinking about in the last week.
Naming of Community Transport Minibus after Dame Esther Rantzen
This week I was asked to help Community Transport Sussex name one of their mini buses in honour of Dame Esther Rantzen and the work that she has done to tackle the scourge of loneliness in old age. It was a lovely morning and I enjoyed meeting the brilliant teams at Age UK in Haywards Heath and Community Transport Sussex.
The Mechanical Biological Treatment Facility
Wednesday was a little bit like a school trip for councillors. We were invited to Warnham to tour the Mechanical Biological Treatment facility which is operated by West Sussex County Council. This is where the contents of your black wheelie bins go to be processed. The scale of the operation and the complexity of how our rubbish is sorted is incredible. Visits are available free of charge to schools and community groups in West Sussex.
Wine Tasting
Our wine tasting fundraiser was a great fun on Friday night. Thank you to everyone who helped make it such a success. Hopefully you enjoyed the wines and the company. Let me know what kind of events you would like to see us organise in future.
