Alison Bennett on General Election: Time to kick the Conservatives out of Mid Sussex
Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Mid Sussex Alison Bennett has said the seat is “on a knife edge”, and called on voters to vote Liberal Democrat to kick the Conservative party out of Mid Sussex.
The Liberal Democrats came second at the last General Election in 2019 with Labour trailing in third. Following major changes to the boundaries of the constituency, the Liberal Democrats are now in prime position to beat the Conservatives on 4th July.
In the last set of local elections here in May 2023, the Liberal Democrats became the largest party on the District Council, ending 25 years of Conservative control. The Liberal Democrats believe that the General Election is a once in a generation chance to build on this success and make history by electing Alison Bennett as Mid Sussex’s first ever Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament.
Liberal Democrat candidate Alison Bennett will be campaigning for action to save our NHS, tackle the cost of living crisis, and end the sewage scandal.
Responding to Rishi Sunak calling a General Election, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Mid Sussex, Alison Bennett said:
“This election is a once-in-a-generation chance to kick the Conservatives out of power and finally deliver the change Mid Sussex so desperately needs.
“It’s clear that only the Liberal Democrats can beat the Conservatives in Mid Sussex. It’s on a knife edge here and every vote will count.
“The choice for Mid Sussex voters at the General Election is between me or yet another Conservative who will let us down.
“Labour cannot win here. They finished in third place at the last general election in our area and trailed in a distant fourth place at the last local elections.
“The choice to be our new MP is Conservative or Liberal Democrat. No other result is possible. Voting Labour or staying at home will just let the Tories sneak back in, which would be bad for Mid Sussex and our country.
“People are telling me they’re fed up with years of chaos and neglect under this out-of-touch Conservative government.
“After years of struggling to get a GP appointment, soaring rents and mortgages and our rivers being polluted by filthy sewage, it’s time for a change in Mid Sussex.
“As the next MP for Mid Sussex, I would stand up for local health services, tackle the sewage scandal and be a strong voice for our community in Parliament.”
