“Action needed on East Grinstead fly tipping” say Lib Dems

The Liberal Democrats are calling on Mid Sussex District Council to take urgent action to clear fly tipping in East Grinstead.

"A neglected area of land in East Grinstead has been turned into a fly tipping eye sore," said Robert Eggleston, Lib Dem Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Mid Sussex. "Land off Lowdell's Lane has become a dumping ground."

Fly-tipping has become a growing problem according CLA South East (a body which represents landowners, farmers and rural businesses in Sussex).

Robert Eggleston said, "the Lowdell's Lane area in East Grinstead is a prime example of how fly-tipping can get out of hand. Several large mounds of waste have been allowed to pile up over a long period and needs to be cleared. I've reported this site to Mid Sussex District Council so hopefully we can help to improve this area for local residents."

Mid Sussex District Council is committed to trying to clear fly-tipped waste from public land within three days of it being reported.

Whilst in East Grinstead, Robert Eggleston also spoke to local residents about the future of the former railway cutting known as St Margaret's Loop. "This is an important area for wildlife but it is also used as an unofficial waste tip. I realise that the land has several owners but the town council ought to bring forward its plans to turn St Margaret's Loop into a pedestrian and cycle nature trail. Not only would that significantly improve the area it would also solve the fly tipping problem in the Loop".
