A Very Disappointing Election Result

15 May 2011

On May 5th local elections were held for the Mid Sussex District Council and Town Councils across the area. Full results for Mid Sussex District Council are available below. In short the Tories have maintained control of Mid Sussex, Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath whilst also taking control of East Grinstead.

Every single one of our Councillors and Candidates would like to thank those who voted for them and for the warm reception received on the doorsteps. Over the weeks of campaigning it became clear that amongst the people of Mid Sussex there is deep disquiet on a number of issues and the Liberal Democrats will continue to work hard for people in our communities. If you have any local concerns, problems or issues which you would like help with then please contact us on info@midsussexlibdems.org.uk.

Of particular concern for us in the wake of the elections has been the mistakes made by the District Council over Postal Votes. A number of residents have been in contact who lost their votes for a number of reasons. If you were disenfranchised or feel you were deprived of your vote then please get in touch and we can plot the scale of this issue.

This comes on top of failures in Burgess Hill Meeds ward, failures which will mean a by-election in June which could have been avoided.

Once again a thank you to all who voted and best wishes.
