David Inglesfield leafletingHear from David Inglesfield about why he joined the Lib Dems:
When did you join the Lib Dems?
I joined the LibDems on the spur of the moment after the Brexit referendum. I thought Brexit was a really bad decision and I believe that politicians should provide leadership, not just do something which is popular but which they know to be bad for the country.
What made you join the party?
I've since discovered that the LibDems are a party very much driven by their values. I like that, because whilst I don't necessarily agree with every policy I do believe very strongly in the core values, which the LibDems describe as liberty, equality and community.
Have you always been involved in politics?
I've always been interested in politics but hadn't been active for years. I was a Conservative originally. I wasn't at all intending to become active again but it's actually been really good fun. I've discovered that I even enjoy delivering leaflets - it's good exercise and you get to know your local area a lot better!
What do you do when not volunteering?
Outside politics I have a busy day job which involves commuting to London and a fair bit of travel around the country. I enjoy gardening and cycling and I'm married with 4 kids.
What type of volunteering activity do you get involved with and what do you get out of volunteering?
Somehow I ended up getting elected as Haywards Heath Branch Chair. The best thing about that is that we have a brilliant team of volunteers with a wide range of expertise. Everyone does their bit and it seems to work pretty well.
