4 Years of Waste and Inefficiency

During the last 4 years Liberal Democrats have been challenging the waste and inefficiency of the Tory run District Council. From payments to bankrupt developers to the fiasco surrounding car parking in Mid Sussex, the Tories have left a legacy of waste and mismanagement of YOUR money. Some examples of this include:

  • A 2007 error meaning the Council had to find £1.7 million to fund wheelie bins it was expecting to lease
  • £1.3 million of payments to bankrupt property developers
  • Losses from 'The Big CUlture Show' of over £300,000
  • Replacing needlessly frustrating car parking machines at a cost of £133,000
  • The former Chief Executive being paid bonuses amounting to £57,000 a year
  • The fiasco of car parking charges losing the Council over £1.2 million against their budget
  • Parking issues driving shoppers away from our high streets
  • An under resourced planning department leading to extra costs for cases settled against the Council
  • A failure to provide a local plan for sustainable development which is now leading to a free-for-all for housing developers in Mid Sussex
