Children's Minister Sarah Teather Visits Haywards Heath

April 16, 2011 3:11 PM

Sarah Teather speaking to local Lib Dems

Children's Minister Sarah Teather has visited Haywards Heath to support the Liberal Democrat local elections campaign.

Sarah visited a number of community and children's projects including the Sure Start Centre in Penn Crescent and listened to the concerns of local residents. Lib Dem District Councillor for Bentswood, Irene Balls said "It was a delight to welcome the Minister to Haywards Heath. Local services were very pleased that a Minister was willing to take the time to visit and listen to them. Sarah was also very interested in our campaign to take control of Mid Sussex, Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill Councils."

In Government across the Country the Liberal Democrats have been standing up for child services. Lib Dem run councils are not closing ANY Sure Start centres and in Lib Dem majority Councils NO libraries are being closed.

Other national successes include lifting 900,000 people out of income tax altogether and a £200 tax cut for 23 million people. Liberal Democrats in Government have also secured a 'Pupil Premium', investing £650m (rising to £2.5 billion) in

schools serving poorer communities.

Elections for the District Council, Town Councils and the AV referendum are on May 5th. If you would like to help us take control of Mid Sussex, Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill then please get in touch!
